For pond supplies: 01661844005 This is a compilation video of a 4 part series I uploaded a while back showing every stage of building and explaining how to build a pond for fish. It shows all the various steps taken to make a fish pond which is safe and accessible.. I have also uploaded a complete video of a school wildlife pond with dipping platform and hibernaculum - it also shows all stages of construction.. In this fish pond video, the start of each section is at the following time: 0:06 Digging the hole and laying the underlay / liner 7:44 Installing the cascade 24:02 Installing the edging, pump and filter 36:16 Rockery and finished pond with pump and filter details 45:32 Out-takes Pump is Oase Aquamax Eco 8000 and the filter is an Oase Filtoclear 30000. The design of this pond allows for good access and different positioning of the pump for winter and summer positions. Check out my pond construction playlist for pond building guides covering many different types of ponds including wildlife ponds. fish ponds and koi ponds. Hi, some good tips, never thought about moving pump to shallow area :-) hmm as you used a lot of mortar, yet no g4 sealer? Can you or some 1 also advise just inherited a number of large gold fish and orfe`s, so have the nod from the wife to extend a 520 gal pond to 1170. As most on a budget, installed now is the firestone 1mm. but been looking at this 3 ply liner at 1/4 the price. guess answering my own question u get what you pay for. So looking at the greenseal .75mm. Regards

Hi PondGuru, love all your video's they have been very informative in helping me with my own build. I have constructed a 20m stream with a large preformed reservoir at the foot of the falls with 6000 Oase pump for circulation. The system has been running for almost 2 years now with very few issues. There is a mains water inlet on the tank with float which compensates for evaporation etc. I am now wanting to contour the stream to create over spills etc and to shape the flow of water a bit better. I am planning to use waterfall foam which was shown on similar videos here on Youtube. My question to you is do I have to use the foam on dry materials or can it be used on damp components?

Good video. Much appreciated. It would help many of us if you gave us a complete list of materials we will need, e.g. skimmer, pump, pump filter, et al. Also, due to your ample experience, it would be helpful to know what are the top brand names for each part, so we can ensure a long-lasting final outcome. Thanks.

I was building ponds in the early 90's, and I must say without a doubt. This is the best how to build a pond video out there. You are a fantastic teacher and your attention to detail is a great asset. If anyone wants to know how to DIY a pond watch and watch again. Thank you for your knowledge.

Thanks! The dimensions are 14ft lengthwise, 10ft for the width, and the deepest part is 4ft. It is very similar to the pond in this video and it will have a cascade but it will be a little smaller that the one that you have shown. It is 5ft tall and where the water will go through, the width is about 3ft

Hi guru hope all is well , just a quick question when cementing the spill stones and cobbles in do u use an additive with the cement mix does it need waterproofing or can I just mix and go, building my first cascade @ the mo.

Great video m8 really enjoyed watching it, thanks for sharing. Just one question how deep should the planting shelves be? I have been told 18 inches below water surface when pond is at maximum fill level. I thought that this was too deep. Your info would be most welcome. God bless ya

Hi PondGuru Im working on my own pond now and I have a question. do you put rock walls on top of the liner I know some people do, mine is going to be 6 feet to winterize it my question is to keep the liner from floating up are rock walls necessary or is it possible to build without?
Написал: dfg gf, 14.06.2014, 06:38

does the cascade reuse the water from the pond

Excellent for DIYers! Thank you for the step by step. I have a sloped yard that would make an awesome cascade area but I have to first slope bottom away from the house as my foundation is the low point! Any suggestions? I want all natural (flagstones, plants) low maintenance. Also, it gets to 40 below where I live. Wouldn't the pump/filter freeze exposed like that? PS: Loved the bloopers at the end of the video!

Hi...You really seem to know what you're doing with these filters systems, so I would like to know if you could help me with this... I have a 100 gallon prefab pond, with a waterfall, that sets above a 200 gallon prefab pond.....is there any way to convert the 100 gallon pond into a filtration system? there are no fish in the smaller pond, and 1 huge! gold fish, 4 small goldfish in the larger pond.....my water is GREEN! I've watched a bunch of videos, but have no idea how to do this....I also have an external uv light "thingy", that goes from the larger pond into the smaller one....any ideas would be greatly appreciated!
